Let your light shine with these Cardboard Tube Candles. This craft is a great way to recycle some old paper towel or toilet paper tubes you may have lying around the house. Once you have your candle shape created there’s lots of room to let your kid’s creativity shine.

Supplies:

Steps:

  • Cut a cardboard tube to the height you want for your “candle”.
  • Measure and cut your choice of construction paper. Enough to wrap and cover your cardboard tube.
  • Cover your cardboard tube with the construction paper and secure it with scotch tape.
  • Cut two small slits into the top of your tube on opposite ends from each other.
  • Cut a fire shape out of yellow construction paper (with the widest point being slightly wider than the cardboard tube), then cut a smaller fire shape out of either orange construction paper or orange tissue paper then glue it to the center of the yellow piece. Should look like a flame.
  • Secure your flame to your candle by sliding it into the two slits you cut into your cardboard tube.
  • Now decorate your candle however you want with markers, crayons, colored pencils, stickers, etc. You can also add an extra step by adding some glitter to your flame if you’d like.
