One of my favorite things about living in Michigan and the Fall season is all the different colors in the trees! So it’s only fitting that for our “Fall Leaves” themed week here on the blog we do some fall crafts full of color! These Marbled Fall Leaves are so fun to make and turn out beautiful every time.

This marbling style of craft is one I’ve done many times as a kid and is always one of my favorites to do with my own kids. It can be a little messy, so be sure to cover your space and your clothes appropriately. And if you’re looking for more “Fall Leaves” themed crafts, snacks, activities, and a corresponding simple Bible lesson to do with your kids, be sure to check out my Weekly Fun Plan: Seasons Change but God Remains the Same.

Steps:

  • Take out a piece of Cardstock paper and either use a Sharpie marker to draw some Fall leaf shapes OR if you have a printer that can use Cardstock paper, print off this Free Fall Leaves Template.
  • Take some scissors and either cut out the leaf shapes yourself or if you have older children who are good with scissors have them cut out the leaf shapes.
  • Once you have your leaves cut out. Cover your cookie sheet with a full layer of shaving cream.
  • Take your food coloring droppers and put drops of whichever colors you’d like to use all over your shaving cream base.
  • Take a butter knife (popsicle sticks or pencils work too) and with circular or figure eight motions swirl the drops of food coloring all around the shaving cream creating a marbled pattern.
  • Carefully place your Cardstock leaves onto the shaving cream, lightly pressing them down. Let them sit for about 10 seconds.
  • Carefully remove your leaves then using a squeegee (or any flat edge) scrape the shaving cream off of your leaf leaving a beautiful marbled pattern on your leaf.
  • Set them aside to dry and voila you have fun fall leaf decorations you can hang around your home.
