This cute and easy Palm Sunday Handprint Craft requires only 3 supplies to make and creates a fun Palm Sunday picture for you to hang up and enjoy.

Do this craft with your kids at home for Holy Week, or if you work in a church this would be a perfect craft for any kids’ ministry event or Sunday school lesson on Palm Sunday.

This craft is also a great way to help your children memorize John 12:13b (our verse of the week). Once the painting portion of the craft is complete, you will have time and space to write the verse right onto your artwork.

“Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” – John12:13b

Steps:

  • To start, place your white paper on your workspace landscape orientation. Using a green marker draw 1 long wavy or straight line diagonally across the paper. This will be the stem of your palm leaf. See the image below for reference.
  • Next, let your child either dip their hand into green paint or use a paintbrush to paint their hand green. Press your paint-covered hand down onto the paper making a green handprint. Repeat the process all along your stem line on both sides (fingers facing out). This will create the individual “palm leaves” on your stem. See the image below for reference.
  • Set aside your art to let your paint dry completely.
  • Once your paint is dry, using a black marker, write “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord” around your palm leaf. And that’s it, you’re done!
