Praising Snowmen

With our lesson this week all about how there is no one like God, I wanted to find a cute winter craft that could help your kids absorb and remember that truth. I think these Praising Snowmen will do just that.

When I think about the fact that God is holy, loving, and good my natural response is to praise and worship God for who He is. A common bodily position that illustrates praise and worship is looking up to the sky with hands raised high. So let’s make these adorable snowmen that look like they’re praising God.

This craft only requires a few supplies, is very easy to make, and it’s the perfect way to slip in a quick discussion with your kids about the character of God.

Steps:

  • To start, select a color of construction paper you would like to be your background sky.
  • Next, using white paper cut out a large circle and trapezoid shape. These will be the head and body of your snowman. Glue them to the background paper as shown below.
  • Next, using orange paper cut out a triangle carrot nose and glue it to your snowman with the nose pointing upward.
  • Select a different color of paper you would like to use for a scarf. Cut out two rectangles, just long enough to cover the width of the neck of your snowman. If you’d like, cut some fringe on the bottom of your second piece then glue the scarf pieces as shown below. You may want to decorate your scarf with paper strips, markers, or stickers.
  • Using a black marker, draw a smile, some buttons, and some stick arms raised high.
  • Lastly using white paint and a Q-tip, paint some snow in the air of your artwork. Let it dry and you’re done!
