If you’re looking for a simple and festive craft to do with your kids this Thanksgiving, try this Gratitude Pie Spinner.
This craft only requires a few supplies, is mess-free, and allows your kids to sit and reflect on the things that they are thankful for in a fun creative way. Once finished these also make the perfect Thanksgiving decorations for your home.
If you’re looking for more Thanksgiving-themed crafts, snacks, activities, and a corresponding simple Bible lesson to do with your kids, check out this week’s Weekly Fun Plan: Thankfulness.
Supplies:
- Construction Paper (Orange)
- 2 Paper Plates
- Glue
- Scissors
- Brown/Tan Crayon or Colored Pencil
- Black Marker
- Split Pin
Steps:
- Take a brown/tan crayon or colored pencil and color the outer edge of your first paper plate.
- Trace your plate onto a piece of orange construction paper to get a circle shape then draw a smaller circle inside that circle or free cut a circle a few inches smaller than your plate size. You’ll want an orange circle that will cover the eating portion of the paper plate but will leave the brown/tan colored borders visible. Once cut, use a glue stick to secure the circle to the plate. It should now look like a pumpkin pie. View the image below for reference.
- Cut a pie slice wedge out of the paper plate pie.
- Next poke or cut a hole in the center of both paper plates. Line up the 2 plates with the plain plate underneath the “pie” plate and secure them together with your split pin. You should now be able to spin the bottom plate around like a spinner.
- Lastly, take your marker and write “I am thankful for…” on the top “pie” plate and have your child write different things that they are thankful for in the white cutout slice space. Continue to rotate the bottom plate around for each new thing you are thankful for. Add things to the spinner list until the plate rotates all the way around and there is no more space to write on the bottom plate
