Looking for a fun, seasonal craft that’s as sweet as pie? This Paper Plate Apple Pie Craft is the perfect hands-on activity to go along with this week’s Bible lesson on serving others!

With a simple paper plate, a little construction paper, and some paint, kids can create their own adorable apple pie to “serve up” to others. It’s a creative, mess-friendly project that encourages kids to think about what it means to share God’s love through acts of service—just like serving a slice of pie made with love!

This easy and engaging craft works great at home with your family, in a Sunday School class, or during kids’ ministry time. Not only does it celebrate creativity and the season, but it also helps kids understand that serving others can be fun, joyful, and full of heart.

Supplies:

Steps:

  • Start by painting or coloring the outer rim of a paper plate brown.
  • While your paint dries, cut out a circle of red construction paper, approximately the same size as the base of the plate.
  • Next, cut out 4 thin strips of brown construction paper, the length of the plate.
  • Once the paint on your plate is dry, cut a scalloped edge around the entire plate.
  • Then, glue the red circle to the center of your plate.
  • Next, using the 4 strips of brown, glue them down on top of the red paper in a tic-tac-toe pattern.
  • Lastly, glue down a handful of cotton balls to the center of your plate to be the “whipped cream” on your paper plate apple pie, and you’re done!
