This super fun Puffy Paint Cotton Candy Art requires very few supplies and creates a fun colorful craft with a 3D twist your kids will love.

Do this craft with your kids at home, for a kids’ ministry event, VBS, or Sunday school lesson. This is also the perfect kid’s activity for a circus/carnival-themed party.

This method of “puffy painting” can also be mixed to make many different colors and unlimited other craft ideas. 3-dimensional puffy paint is a great way to paint cloud formations, fur on animals, creamy-looking ice cream, rainbows, fluffy snow, the list goes on!

If you’re looking for more circus/carnival-themed crafts, snacks, activities, or my full Bible lesson on “What is the church?”, check out this week’s Weekly Fun Plan: Come One Come All!

Supplies:

Steps:

  • To start, select what color of construction paper you’d like to use for your background. Then using plain white paper cut out a long skinny triangle shape to be the cone for your cotton candy. I made mine about 4-5” in length.
  • Glue your triangle onto the bottom half of your background paper. Make sure to orient the point of the triangle to the bottom of your paper.
  • Next, mix a dollop of shaving cream, a drizzling of liquid glue, and a drop or two of food coloring to make your puffy paint. I chose to make pink and purple, but you can mix whatever color cotton candy you like.
  • Using paintbrushes, glob and swirl your puffy paints to create your 3D cotton candy painting. The puffy paint will look very 3D at first and settle as it dries down. Your completed picture will still have a little bit of a puffy and soft look but not as much as when first painted.
  • Lastly, once the puffy paint is completely dry, you can leave it as is or write a message. You could put your child’s name, a fun quote, a Bible verse, or whatever you’d like onto the blank areas of your painting. I chose to write “Life is sweeter with Jesus!” on mine.

    1. Thanks so much for your kind words, I’m glad you like the site! I did build/customize the website myself, but the overall theme I purchased off of Etsy. The name of the theme was “Liberty”.
