Welcome to this week’s Weekly Fun Plan: Grow in Faith! If you haven’t already I recommend you read my introductory blog post “Faith-filled Fun: What Is It? And Why I Started It”. That post will give you some background into this blog and a little more in-depth explanation of my Weekly Fun Plans and how to use them.
This Week’s Theme: Grow in Faith!
The weather may not feel like it quite yet, but Spring is coming! I am so excited because this week marks the first of multiple spring-themed Weekly Fun Plans I have in the works for you all. And I’ve got to say, there is something about Spring/Easter time crafts that are just 10x cuter! So get ready for lots of fun and adorable crafts, snacks, and upcoming Bible lessons.
This week we are going to talk about the topic of faith! A very important topic I might add! We will discuss what faith is, how big Jesus says our faith needs to be, and how we can grow our faith every day. Just like we should aim to “grow” our faith, with Spring just around the corner all our craft, snack, and activity ideas this week are going to be flower-themed. If you try anything in this week’s plan don’t forget to share your experiences on social media! Tag us @faithfilledfun on Instagram or use #faithfilledfun.

Bible Lesson: What to Read or Watch this week
Since this week we are focusing on learning about faith, here are some great resources to read/watch:
If you have young children (ages 0-8):
Read this simple Bible Lesson:
This week we are going to learn about faith. Do you know what faith means? Faith means believing in God without ever having seen Him. It can be hard to believe in something that we can’t see with our own eyes but just because we can’t see something doesn’t mean that it’s not real.
For example, I like to think about the wind. We can’t see the wind with our eyes but we know that it’s real. How do we know it’s real? We feel it on our skin and in our hair and we see its effects on nature. When it blows the branches of the trees, makes waves in the ocean, or makes a kite fly you know that it’s there. So even though we can’t see God with our eyes, we can feel his love in our hearts, and we can see his effects in our lives. We can see the way he provides us with what we need, and we can see all the things in nature that he has created so perfectly and beautifully, just like the flowers.
So believing in God even though we cannot see him is called faith. Now we can have BIG faith like the brave men and women we talked about last week in the stories of Daniel, David, and Esther, or we can have small faith. But Jesus taught in Matthew that even if we only need faith the size of a mustard seed (that’s a very tiny seed!) God can still do big things with us!
Now let’s think, if God can do great things with just a tiny amount of faith, how much more could He do with even bigger faith? That’s why we want to try to work every day to grow our faith bigger and bigger.
Now do things like flowers just get bigger on their own? No, they need water, soil, and sunlight to grow. So just like a flower needs different things to grow, we need to do certain things to help our faith grow. Let’s learn about 5 things today that we can do to grow our faith:
1.) Look for good faith role models. (Examples: parent, grandparent, pastor, youth/church leader)
2.) Read God’s Word any chance we get.
3.) Remember and be thankful for all the things God has done already.
4.) Be brave and step out in faith (just like we discussed last week in Weekly Fun Plan: He Makes Me Brave)
5.) Follow God’s plan for your life and do what He commands.
Now let’s take a look at some verses in the Bible that talk about growing our faith:
- Luke 17:5-6
- 2 Corinthians 5:7
- John 15:5
- 1 Corinthians 3:6-7
- Proverbs 3:5-6
Watch:
“Faith Like a Mustard Seed” by PursueGOD Kids on YouTube. This is a fun children’s video that is less than 3 minutes in length and geared toward young kids.
If you have older children/teens (ages 9-18):
- Read through the same lesson and verses above. Then have them take notes on what they think God is trying to teach them through these verses or have them look up and find some more Bible verses on the topic of faith and how to grow it.
Bible Lesson: Questions to Ask Your Kids/Discuss this week
If you read the recommended Bible verses or watched the YouTube video your kids should be able to answer this week’s question:
What is Faith? Answer: Belief in God/Jesus without seeing Him.
If you have little ones (ages 0-8):
I would focus on that one question. Ask them this same question every morning or evening and see if they can remember the answer. Once they get that down, move on to the additional discussion questions listed below.
If you have older children (ages 9-18):
Here are some additional questions you can discuss with them throughout the week:
- What did Jesus teach we only need to have faith as big as? (Answer: a mustard seed)
- What are some ways the Bible teaches us we can grow our faith?
- What is one action you can take this week to strengthen your faith?
- Who are some people in the Bible who showed great faith that we can look up to and learn from? (Tip: Look up the “Heroes of Faith” list in the Bible. Read Hebrews 11)
Bible Lesson: Memory Verse
Memorizing scripture is vital to teaching our children at a young age. Recalling and reciting scripture that they’ve memorized will help them as they grow and go through trials in life. It will also encourage them, equip them to go out and be little disciples of Jesus, and strengthen their faith as they age.
This week let’s have your kids work on memorizing 2 Corinthians 5:7
Memorizing scripture is so much easier for kids if you can find a way to make it fun. Here are some different ideas to try as a family to help memorize this week’s verse:
- Come up with some simple motions for each word of the verse and make a cheer or dance out of it.
- Come up with your own melody and create a song out of it.
- Make it a game. Start by saying one word or phrase of the verse at a time and have your kids repeat after you until you’ve gotten through the whole verse. Then repeat the process saying the words differently every time. Examples: slow, fast, in a silly voice, quiet, loud, etc.
Once your child/children have got it, I recommend practicing reciting the verse each morning over breakfast or before they leave for school and maybe even again before bed. Make it a part of your routine and you’ll be amazed at how fast they will begin to pick it up.

Recipe: Garden Flower Graham Crackers
This week’s recipe is a fun flower-themed snack for this spring season. There is a ton of room for customization so it’s a great snack to use up whatever fruit you may have in the fridge. Follow the video for easy step-by-step instructions.
Some common substitutions you may want to make:
- For the flower head: I used strawberries, green grapes, and canned peaches. You may want to try blueberries, kiwi, raspberries, pineapple, pears, or whatever other fruit your kids enjoy!
- For the base: I used regular cream cheese for the spread on the graham cracker. If you want a sweeter treat you could substitute this for vanilla frosting or for a healthier option you may want to try using yogurt.
- For the dirt: I used Cocoa Rice Krispies cereal for the dirt at the bottom of the flower. You could try another chocolate-flavored cereal or you could also crumble up some Oreos or chocolate cookies for a sweeter option.

Bottle Print Flower Art:
Next up we have this fun Bottle Print Flower Art. My kids love any craft where they get to use something unconventional as an art tool, so I think your kids are going to enjoy this one too. Follow the link for an easy step-by-step guide.
Activities:
With our theme this week, “Grow in Faith” here are a few extra ideas for activities to do with your children:
- If you have space, maybe make some plans to plant a garden this year.
- Discuss what plants you would love to grow if you could have your dream garden.
- If you don’t have space for a garden, go to the store and buy a potted plant to take care of and enjoy.
- Visit a greenhouse or local garden center for a “field trip” and look at all the plants.
- Learn about plants and how to take care of them using the internet or some books from your local library.
Parenting Tip of the Week:
Our identity and our children’s identity should always come from Christ first and foremost. We are who God says we are and not what the world or other people might say we are. As much as we as parents might know it in our hearts, hear about it at church, or read it in our Bibles, it’s so important to remind ourselves and our children daily what our identity is in Christ.
Recently one of my favorite Christian influencers, Lacy Abercrombie, shared a list of Christian affirmations she reads over herself every morning and it stuck with me. I typed up the list and have been reading it over myself and my kids ever since and I think it could really benefit you and your family too. So I’ve created a free downloadable Christian Affirmations poster for you to print off and use and have also attached it below for you to read. I hope you love it as much as I do!
Prayers:
Lastly, I like to end each Weekly Fun Plan with some example prayers for your week. One is to pray with your kids, maybe before they get on the bus in the morning, before a meal, or before bed, and the other prayer is for you, the parent, to pray over your kids throughout the week.
Prayer to say with your kids this week:
Dear God, I believe in You. Help me to grow my faith bigger and stronger every day. Amen.
Prayer to pray over your kids this week:
Dear God, I lift up my child/children to you as they grow and mature each day. I pray that they will not only grow up healthy and strong physically, emotionally, and mentally but most importantly I pray that they grow spiritually. Lord, I ask that you would grow a faith in them that is strong and unshakable. Help them to lean on You and not on their own understanding. I pray that they turn to you for wisdom, guidance, and comfort and that they live out their faith every day. In Jesus name, Amen.
