5 Minute Homemade Ice Cream in a Bag

What could be sweeter than making your very own ice cream in just 5 minutes? This week’s snack recipe is a kid-favorite: Homemade Ice Cream in a Bag!
With just a few simple ingredients and some serious shaking power, you can whip up a delicious, sweet treat – no expensive ice cream maker required.
It’s the perfect activity to pair with our Sweet Truths theme, giving kids a hands-on way to enjoy something sweet while learning about the goodness of God. Plus, it’s quick, mess-free, and so much fun for the whole family!

Ingredients:
- ½ cup whole milk
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 6 tbsp sea salt
- 2 cups of ice
- Sandwich-sized ziplock bag
- Gallon-sized ziplock bag

Steps:
- In the sandwich-sized ziplock bag, add your milk, sugar, and vanilla extract. Make sure to seal the bag tightly and completely.

- In the gallon-sized ziplock bag, add ice and salt.
- Place your smaller bag inside the larger bag and seal it tightly and completely.

- Shake the bag hard but carefully, making sure not to open the bag, for approximately 5 minutes or until the ice cream reaches the consistency you are looking for.
- Remove the small bag, wipe it off, and empty the contents into a bowl or eat straight out of the bag with a spoon.
- Optional: top with sprinkles, nuts, chocolate syrup, or your other favorite sundae toppings.
