Normally anytime paint is involved it can get pretty messy, but you can rest assured with these super cute Fingerprint Fireflies. This craft requires only 3 supplies, doesn’t take much time at all to complete, is easy to clean, and turns out absolutely adorable.
While you do your craft you can review the memory verse for this week Matthew 5:16 or read this additional verse to your kids:
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” – John 1:5
For more crafts, activities, snacks, and discussion points to have with your kids on how they can shine the light of Jesus just like a firefly, check out my blog post Weekly Fun Plan: Shine a Light.
Supplies:
- Yellow Non-Toxic Paint
- Mini Art Canvas or White Paper
- Black Sharpie
Steps:
- Take a black Sharpie marker and sketch out a simple jar shape. View the photo below for inspiration.
- Take the yellow non-toxic paint and paint your child’s finger with a brush. If your children are older you can also just let them dip their fingers into the paint.
- Place some fingerprints inside the “jar” leaving some space in between them for the wings to be drawn on later.
- Let the paint dry. After it is completely dry use your Sharpie to draw eyes, wings, and little light trails on each fingerprint creating your fireflies.
