If you’re looking for an adorable Christmas craft to do with your kids this year, you’ll love this Kids Photo Christmas Present Ornament idea.

This craft only requires a few supplies, is mess-free, and is a great way to reuse some of those wrapping paper scraps you may have lying around after wrapping this year’s gifts.

These ornaments are a fun way to save a photo of your kids from this year and would make cute heartwarming gifts for parents, grandparents, etc.

Supplies:

Steps:

  • To start you’re going to need a photo of your child about 3” in size. Take a photo of your child with their hands in the air or use a photo you already have printed.
  • Cut out the photo of your child and set it aside.
  • Next, using your wrapping paper scraps cut out 2 rectangle shapes. One larger and one thinner to look like a box and its lid. Make sure the rectangles are the right size to fit the photo of your child. See the image below for reference.
  • Next, using construction paper, you can cut out some bow and ribbon shapes to jazz up your “gift box,” or you can skip this step.
  • Measure out a strip of contact paper large enough to fit double the size of your “gift box” cutouts. You will fold this in half to laminate your image on both sides.
  • Carefully place your “gift box” cutouts and your child’s photo onto the sticky side of your contact paper so that it looks like your child is popping out of the gift box.
  • Once in place, fold your contact paper over to seal the image and laminate it.
  • Using scissors cut off the excess contact paper around the image.
  • You can leave your craft at this step but if you want to make it into an ornament simply use a hole punch to cut a hole at the top of your image.
  • Then take some string or ribbon, loop it through the hole, and tie it together to create your hanger. And that’s it, you’re done!
