If you’re looking for a simple and adorable winter-themed activity to do with your kids this season, you’ll love this Paper Mitten Craft.
This craft only requires a few supplies, is mess-free, and is a quick activity to do with your kids.
If you work in the church, this craft could be used with a Bible lesson on the topic of Psalm 139:13-14 which tells us how God “knit” us together in our mother’s womb. This craft can easily be used for a Sunday School, VBS, or a homeschool supplement.
Once the craft is complete, write the Psalm 139 verses shown below or a simple message like “Knit together by God!” on the top of the paper and it’s the perfect combination of cute, easy, and faith-based.
‘For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.’
– Psalms 139:13-14 NIV

Supplies:
Steps:
- Start with one color of construction paper for your background and another color for your mittens.
- Trace your hands or freehand cut some mitten shapes onto your mitten designated color construction paper.
- Glue each mitten shape onto your background paper.
- Next, cut a piece of yarn about 6-8” long and glue it to the paper. Make sure each end of the yarn is connected to one of your mittens.
- Gently pull apart some cotton balls to fluff them up, and glue them to the bottoms of each mitten.
- Let your glue dry and your paper mitten craft is complete. Leave the craft as is or take it one step further. If you have the time, consider using markers & crayons to decorate the mittens, write a message, or write a Bible verse in the open spaces of the paper.
