Looking for a simple, fast, and mess-free craft that kids will love? This Paper Plate Ice Cream Cone Craft is the perfect fit!

Using just a paper plate, markers, googly eyes, and a little construction paper, kids can create their very own silly ice cream cone characters.

It’s an easy art project to pull together at home, in Sunday school, or during a summer playdate, and it brings out tons of creativity without any complicated prep or cleanup. Plus, it pairs perfectly with our Sweet Truths theme, reminding kids that the truths of God found in the Bible are as sweet as their favorite treat!

And if you’re looking for more Ice Cream-themed crafts, snacks, activities, and my corresponding simple Bible lesson, be sure to check out this week’s Weekly Fun Plan: Sweet Truths.

Supplies:

Steps:

  • Start by taking your paper plate and cutting a wavy line across the bottom ⅓ of the plate. See photo for reference.
  • Next, using brown construction paper, cut out a triangle to be used as your cone. Using a brown marker, draw on some criss-crossing lines to make it look like a waffle cone.
  • Using a glue stick, attach your cone to the back of your paper plate scoop. Be sure to attach it to the wavy side.
  • Using googly eyes and/or markers, create a cute face at the center of your scoop.
  • With various colors of construction paper, cut out a handful of small rectangles to create your rainbow sprinkles. Then, using some red construction paper, cut out a small red circle to be your cherry.
  • Lastly, use your glue stick to attach your paper sprinkles and cherry to the top of your ice cream cone. After that, you’re done!
